HAPPY 50th ANNIVERSARY, MARILYN & JACK O’LEARY!

Congratulations, best wishes and a lot of love to Marilyn and Jack O’Leary as they celebrate their golden wedding anniversary! We thank them for all they have done for our Parish Family. The couple moved to Homewood in 1978.

High school sweethearts, Marilyn and Jack grew up across the street from one another. Marilyn became an OB nurse at Little Company of Mary Hospital. Jack spent all his working years at Chicago Title & Trust Co. Jack celebrated the 25th anniversary of his ordination to the Diaconate last year. Over all this time the O'Learys have been vital and valuable members of St. Joseph’s. We wish them many more years of happiness, love and God’s richest graces and blessings.

ANNUAL CATHOLIC APPEAL QUITE SUCCESSFUL, SO FAR!

Pledges to the Annual Catholic Appeal to date total $56,674.00. That is some $20,000.00 over our Parish goal. That is also the amount Saint Joseph’s will get back once all pledges have been fulfilled. If you have not as yet made your pledge, know that when you do, the entire amount of your pledge will be returned to Saint Joseph’s. As always, we thank you profoundly for such outstanding generosity.

THE TEMPTATIONS OF CHRIST

The temptations which Christ faced in today’s Gospel are temptations we all have, in one form or another. The longing for physical satisfaction, the lure of pride, and desire to own and amass are often present. To gain our “crown up in the heavens,” we must not only recognize the presence of these temptations but take steps to forestall them. Prayer, fasting and almsgiving are the three pillars upon which Lent rests. They are also the method by which we join Christ and say, “Be gone, Satan!”

Saint Joseph, pray for us, and let us pray for one another!
