THE BAPTISM OF THE LORD
With today’s celebration of the Baptism of the Lord, the Christmas Season comes an end. In his Baptism the Lord was manifested by the Father and the Holy Spirit as the Savior of the world. It marks the inauguration of his public ministry to redeem the world. This event proclaims the Lord’s commitment to the Father and to each of us. As we celebrate Christ’s Baptism, we are reminded of our own. When we were baptized we too were committed to serving the Lord and our fellow man. Although it might have taken place many years ago, our baptism is something that continues to influence our thoughts, words, actions and relationships to this day. We pray to be able to live out our baptism. We also pray for those among us who are preparing to be baptized at Easter.

As you can see from the figures on the right, we have exceeded our budget for the Christmas collection. For your generosity we are most grateful. For those who have not yet had time to contribute, there is still time. As you can see, we’re below our final total for last year. If we could match it, this would be a tremendous show of commitment and loyalty, especially given our difficult national economy. However, as you know we are faced with some extraordinary expenses in repairing the School foundation, walls and classrooms. And so, whatever you are able to do, we are most appreciative.
